THE city's cafe culture was on show last night as student photographers revealed their take on bean life. The 10th Cafe Society Photography Competition was won by Stefan Sordel for his image of the Federal Coffee Palace (left). Final-year RMIT photography students take part, hoping to augment their funds with the $1500 prize. The event's senior judge, National Gallery of Victoria photography curator Isobel Crombie, described the winning image as "elegant and subtle".
